Blacklick, Ohio, is a modestly sized unincorporated community in Central Ohio, established by William A. Smith in 1852. Originally called Smithville, the name was changed to Blacklick, referencing the nearby Blacklick Creek. Blacklick was an important stop on the Underground Railroad, with many escaped slaves passing through the area on their way to freedom in Canada. Over time, the village grew to include various amenities such as a post office, schoolhouse, gristmill, and other businesses by 1870.

Blacklick offers attractions such as Jefferson Community Park and Cedar Run Park. Additionally, Blacklick Woods Metro Park is a hidden treasure within the area, featuring an ancient earthwork thought to have been built by the Adena or Hopewell people. Because Blacklick is a mere 14 miles from nearby Columbus, a short drive of 18 minutes brings such popular attractions as the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Center of Science and Industry (COSI), and Franklin Park Conservatory & Botanical Gardens easily accessible.
