Why Did Amber Marker Choose Rockford

What was your experience like with Rockford Homes?

Overall, the process was much easier than I had anticipated. I had always heard horror stories about building a new home, but it was a pretty smooth process. You could say I am a Pinterest Princess and Rockford did such a great job with helping us do a few custom things here and there to bring our ideas to life. For instance, we were able to do a custom kitchen island.

What is your favorite thing about your new home and why?

I absolutely LOVE all the natural light that we have. Our former house was so dark with few windows, so I loved that we could add windows to make our new home a light and airy space.

I also love that we were able to make a few changes to our floor plan. We built The Bradford floorplan and really wanted an opening from our main living area into our boys’ playroom so we could see them from the kitchen and living room. We weren’t sure if it was possible, but Rockford did a great job at bringing our vision to life. It changed the entire look of the floor plan and is one of my favorite parts of the house. We added a huge sliding barn door to the opening so we could close it off if needed, but it really makes the area grander.

If you could change one thing about your home what would it be?

I would definitely add more windows in our 4th bedroom. We didn’t even think about this when building, but compared to the other parts of the house, it’s much darker in there and we love to have as much natural light as possible.

What advice would you offer someone who is building a home?

My advice would be to get everything you want structurally. At the time, we had to really think about our budget and we could not go over it. My Pinterest Boards were filled with all these ideas that we just could not do at that time, but I knew most were things that could easily be changed, such as adding shiplap, changing hardware, countertops, backsplash, etc. Trying to change structural options after the build process would have been a headache, so we made sure to upgrade things like that during the building process and save other things until after we closed. We extended our dinette area, the play room, upgraded trim, upgraded the cabinets, added can lighting throughout the home, and got the flooring we really wanted in our entire main living area.

Why did you choose Rockford to build your home?

We loved that they allowed us the option to add some custom features to our home where their competitors in our price range could not. They were so willing to listen to my crazy ideas and help me make them a reality.
