Make Lancaster, Ohio, Your New Hometown!
Lancaster, Ohio, was founded in November 1800 by Colonel Ebenezer Zane. Zane was instrumental in developing the area due to his efforts in blazing Zane’s Trace, a road through Ohio from Wheeling to Limestone, Kentucky. The town was initially named New Lancaster and later shortened to Lancaster in 1805. It was officially incorporated as a city in 1831.
As of the most recent U.S. census, Lancaster had a population of 40,5523.
