“I have already referred family and friends to Rockford Homes. We’re in a community where there are still a lot of spaces available and anytime that anyone who lives in Columbus is even thinking about looking for a new home, I immediately tell them my wonderful experience with Rockford Homes and what they have to offer.”

“We have special needs, in the fact that my mother-in-law lives with us, so we decided to build rather than purchase an existing home that we would have to compromise on. Building with Rockford Homes allowed us to get exactly what we want and within our budget. I would recommend Rockford to anyone that needed a home that fit their family, and because of their quality and willingness to work with you to achieve your dream home.”

“I’ve had people say to me, “I’ve always wondered who lived up there on that hill, it’s just so impressive.” It’s a beautiful community. It’s kept up very nicely in both the summer and winter. When I think of Rockford Homes, I think of a place I’m very proud to live.”

“The quality was pretty well evident. You walk through, the trimming work was done correctly, the flooring was fantastic… you could just tell structurally, even going down into the basement and looking up at the floor joists and seeing how they were created, everything was well done. It’s a really quality product”

“The quality at Rockford Homes was really unparalleled to other homes that we went into. Small details in terms of flooring, molding, fixtures and stonework, we were just really impressed with the quality and level of craftsmanship that went into building our home.”

Jenna   5 Star Review

“Every day I walk into my house, I look around and say to myself, “Wow, this is my dream house”. And I really mean that. This is where I’m going to retire. I can say this is going to be my final move, and I’m very happy with that knowing that I’m in a Rockford Home.”

Discover
Lancaster, Ohio

Three years before Ohio became a state, Lancaster had started its road to cityhood. Ebenezer Zane helped establish Lancaster in 1800. If the name sounds familiar, it is because he helped develop the first main “road” in the Lancaster area. Zane’s Trace was a major road in early Ohio until well after the War of 1812, in the Northwest Territories that connected Wheeling, Virginia, to Maysville, Kentucky. Zanesville, Ohio, was one of Ohio’s three capitals that were named after Ebenezer Zane.

With the travelers to the new settlement being of mostly German heritage, the newspaper Der Ohio Adler was printed, and it was one of the first printed words in the area.

By 1812 Lancaster, Ohio, had nearly 350 residents and was designated as the Fairfield county seat. With the integration of the canal system, Lancaster was now linked to Athens, Ohio. The early settlers mainly consisted of farmers until 1854, when a railroad was placed, and textiles, glass, and, most notably, natural gas could now be shipped around the country. Economic growth boomed.

Lancaster, Ohio, also has a strong history in the Civil War. Not only was it a secure stop on the Underground Railroad, but General William Tecumseh Sherman was born in Lancaster, Ohio. General Sherman is most famous for his “Shermans’ March To The Sea.” General Sherman’s house is now a museum you and other families can visit. Another museum that should be seen, if not for history, just for architecture, is The Georgian. Built for the MacCracken family in 1832 by local builder Daniel Sifford. The exterior of both The Georgian and Shermans’ homes both are a take on Federal and Greek Revival architecture, which are absolutely beautiful inside.

Other claims of fame for Lancaster include the Fairfield County Fair. The Fairfield County Fair is the longest-operating county fair in Ohio, held every year since 1850. The county fair is also the last one in the state every year and gained the moniker “The Last and Best of the Season.”
